Engadin Orchestra (Pontresina und Sils)

A tradition that is unparalleled in Europe and has been at home in the Upper Engadine since the end of the 19th century. Musicians from the Milan Scala were among those who started it. Even master conductor Arturo Toscanini insisted on attending one or two concerts. Today, under the artistic direction of Dr. Jürg H. Frei, soloists and members of various salon ensembles from numerous countries travel to the Engadine. In the past, salon music was mainly played, but today the repertoire also includes opera and musical arrangements, jazz and contemporary music pieces. The spa concerts enjoy unbroken popularity, which has now also caught on with the younger generation. The spa concerts take place as part of the Camerata Pontresina in the Taiswald when the weather is good and as Sunday concerts at the entrance to the Fextal in Sils.
